1877 Tallship - SSV ELISSA

Unbeknownst to me, my journey to the ELISSA started in 1985, while visiting Corpus Christi on her maiden voyage after her initial restoration in Galveston.

In 2014, having moved to Galveston and having a fondness for Privateers, I happened upon the historic 1877 Tallship ELISSA again. She was truly magnificent and I decided to help by donating to Galveston Historical Foundation (GHF) and also becoming a Plankowner. Through this, I was invited to sail as a guest of GHF on ELISSA in 2015 and also invited to the Plank-owner’s Sailabration charity auction, which I learned about the volunteer crew.

For the 2016 and 2017 day sails events, I was part of the volunteer crew and sailed aboard the ELISSA, on the Mizzen and Main mast, as deck crew.

For 2018 and 2019 day sails events, I was one of the awesome team of Youth Crew instructors.

I continue to promote the preservation of the history and the skills that are required to sail tall ships.
